ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University women's tennis team dropped a hard fought match; 5-4 against Peach Belt opponent Young Harris on Saturday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.

With the loss, the Trojans fall to 4-2 overall while Young Harris improves to 3-1 on the year.

Anderson was able to grab a 2-1 advantage in the doubles portion against a solid squad from Young Harris. Picking up the two early points for the Trojans was Laura Dean and Rebecca Bruning (AU) defeating Eva Castiglioni and Ana Rodriguez (YHC), 8-5, at the No.1 spot. Trojan tandem Ivey Welborn and Jennifer Holcombe (AU) won over Carol Quevedo and Elin Rundcrantz (YHC), 8-5, at the No. 3 position. At the No. 2 slot Oriana Labaqui and Laura Sanchez (YHC) narrowly defeated Delaney Wiggins and Jacqueline Olivia (AU), 8-6 to pick up the Cougars first point.

In the singles portion, Young Harris was able to win just enough to edge out the Trojans in a hard fought match. Picking up the two wins for the Black and Gold were Bruning and Welborn.

The Trojans are back in action on Thursday when they host Peach Belt opponent Augusta. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
