Limestone Edges Trojans; 5-4

 

ANDERSON, S.C. Anderson University men's tennis was edged out, 5-4, by nonconference opponent Limestone on Thursday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.

With the setback, the Trojans drop to 5-4 overall while Limestone improves to 4-3 overall.

Limestone led 2-1 after the doubles portion with Anderson's Ignacio Bidegain and Preston Morpeth grinded out a point over Guillermo Ortega and Pierluigi Neri, 8-7.

The Black and Gold battled back to take a 4-2 lead with Jeffrey Dayton quickly defeating Emilio Samhan, 6-0, 6-3, as did Preston Morpeth defeating Sacha Terrizzano, 6-2, 6-4. At the No. 1 flight, Ignacio Bidegain won over Federico Garnier, 7-6, 6-2, earning the fourth point for the Trojans.

Anderson battled hard through the final three matches left on the court, but the Saints swept the Black and Gold earning the 5-4 victory.

Anderson remains at home to host South Atlantic Conference foe Queens. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
