Women’s Soccer Wins at Mars Hill; 3-0

MARS HILL, N.C. – Two first half goals set the tone for the Anderson University women's soccer team defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Meares Stadium.

With the victory, the Trojans close out regular season play with a 6-8-1 overall and 5-5 record in conference action while the Lions fall to 3-12-1 overall and 1-9 in SAC play.

Junior Lauren Allan scored just under the 8th minute in the first half to give the Trojans the 1-0 lead. Sophomore Bethany Morgan was able to punch in a pass from junior Alexis Hartert in the 37th minute to cap off the first half scoring. Morgan's goal was her first career goal.

AU's Allan capped off the Trojans scoring in the 59th minute to set the final score, 3-0. Allan's two goal's scored runs her goal total for the season to five.

The Black and Gold outshot the Lions 16-6 while taking the only corner kick of the day.

Junior keeper Abby Helm recorded three saves on the afternoon. Helms finished the regular season with 85 saves and a save percentage of .850.

The Trojans finished SAC action as the 6th place team and will play on Tuesday, Oct. 31st at the 3rd place team's (TBD) home field in the quarterfinal round of the SAC Tournament. The final seeds will be set tonight after all teams finish their final matches later this evening.
