CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- A red hot Austin Peay Lady Govs team was too much to handle for Carson-Newman women's tennis as the team fell 6-1 Friday morning at the Governors Tennis Center.

Alisa Liashova (Ukaine) at No. 6 singles provided the lone point of the match for C-N, who falls to 3-2 with the loss.

Opening doubles action saw the return of Abby Reis (Des Moines, Iowa) who was slotted next to sophomore Ana Carla Resende (Minas Gervais, Brazil) in the head position. The pairing loss to Jana Leder and Danielle Morris, 6-2.

Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Tash Forrest (Jersey, United Kingdom) lost 7-5 at No. 2 doubles, while Anita Chornei (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Liashova lost 6-2.

Four of the Eagles five losses in singles were in straight sets. A third set tiebreaker at No. 5 singles with Klara Vuckovic (Reutlingen, Germany) also went the way of the Lady Govs with Vuckovic losing 1-6, 6-3, 3-10.

Entering Friday's contest, Austin Peay was on a six-match winning streak and now moves to 7-1 on the year.

C-N will resume play Sunday with an exhibition against Sewanee at 2 p.m.
