Men’s Soccer Defeats Coker; 1-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Senior Josh Calabria's 24th minute goal proved to the game-winner as Anderson University men's soccer picked up a 1-0 shutout over Coker in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday evening at Trojan Stadium.

The triumph moves the Trojans to 4-2 overall with a 1-1 mark in the conference. The setback drops the Cobras to 1-4 on the season with a 0-2 mark for the SAC.

Anderson outshot Coker 14-11 while also holding a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks. Lars Kaula, Cameron Emerson, Timo Herrmann and Myles Duncan each recorded two shots on the night.

The Trojans were awarded a corner kick in the 24th minute. Freshman Oriol Gomez sent the cross into the Coker box where he found an open Calabria. Calabria was able to quickly head the ball into the net for the eventual game-winner and his second goal of the season.

In goal, freshman Gal Elyashiv continued his impressive play recording five saves on the night. Elyashiv has tallied a total of 24 saves on the season which is currently second best in the SAC.

Anderson continues SAC play on Saturday when it travels to Tusculum. Kickoff from Greeneville, Tenn. is slated for 3:30 p.m.
