Field Hockey Defeats Seton Hill for Third Straight Victory

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Coker College field hockey team defeated the Seton Hill University Griffins 2-1 Sunday (Oct. 28) afternoon for their third straight victory. The Cobras improved to 4-4 with the victory.

Coker started the game slow and allowed the Griffins to take a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of action. Still trailing by one in the second half, Coker took over the game and scored two goals in a span of three minutes. Amelia Gajewski recorded Coker's first score in the 53rd minute when she pounced on a rebound in front of the goal and beat the keeper for the score. Three minutes later in the 56th minute, Kelly Mason advanced past the Griffin defense and buried her shot in the back of the cage. Gajewski fed Mason an accurate pass for the assist.

As a team, the Cobras outshot Seton Hill 10-5 and earned eight penalty corners. Mason led the Navy and Gold with four shots and three on goal, while Gajewski recorded two shots with both on goal. In goal, Kelsey Gibbons collected one save.

The Cobras will have a quick turnaround as they take on Millersville Monday (Oct. 29) afternoon in non-conference play. The match is set to begin at 4 PM.
