South Atlantic Conference Student-Athletes and Coaches Earn ITA Regional Awards
Members of the Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne men’s teams earned awards, while members of the Wingate, Tusculum and Anderson women’s teams were all named awards winners.
TEMPE, Ariz. (TheSAC.com) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2018 Division II regional award winners on Wednesday (May 2). Members of the Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne men's teams earned awards, while members of the Wingate, Tusculum and Anderson women's teams were all named awards winners.
Wingate assistant men's and women's coach Joel Roberts was named the tasc Performance ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year for both men's and women's tennis.
The Lenoir-Rhyne men's team received the ITA Southeast Region Community Service Award, and Anderson's women's team was awarded the ITA Southeast Region Community Service Award.
Wingate's Sydney Homan was named the Southeast Region's Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship award winner, and Tusculum senior Franziska Funke was named the ITA Most Improved Senior for the Southeast Region.
National award winners will be honored on Tuesday, May 8, at the 2018 Division II NCAA Tennis Championships in Surprise, Arizona.
