The South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas Partner Up to Sponsor Field Hockey and Wrestling
The South Atlantic Conference is pleased to announce that it has joined with Conference Carolinas to sponsor joint championships for field hockey and wrestling beginning in 2018-19.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference is pleased to announce that it has joined with Conference Carolinas to sponsor joint championships for field hockey and wrestling beginning in 2018-19.
In a historic partnership, member institutions from both conferences will be able to compete for a co-branded 'South Atlantic Conference Carolinas' Championship in the sports of field hockey and wrestling.
"The SAC is thrilled to reach this agreement with Conference Carolinas to sponsor championships for these two sports and provide exceptional experiences for the hundreds of student-athletes in our leagues that participate in field hockey and wrestling," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "Thinking 'outside the box' to assist the schools that sponsor these sports and potentially encourage others to add them is what Division II is all about and we are proud to continue to 'Make It Yours' with this initiative."
The field hockey championship will be facilitated by the South Atlantic Conference, while Conference Carolinas will coordinate the wrestling championship. For those Conference Carolinas schools that sponsor field hockey, they will be associate members of the SAC, and the SAC schools that sponsor wrestling will be associate members of Conference Carolinas.
A total of six institutions will compete in field hockey in 2018-19; Belmont Abbey, Coker, Converse, Limestone, Newberry and Queens. Seven wrestling teams will compete for the conference championship in 2018-19; Belmont Abbey, Coker, Emmanuel, King, Newberry, Limestone and Queens.
