The South Atlantic Conference Announces Sites and Dates for 2017-18 SAC Championships
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – On Tuesday the South Atlantic Conference announced the dates and sites for its 2017-2018 championship events. The SAC will conduct championships in 19 sports beginning with Men's and Women's Cross Country on October 21 and concluding with Pilot/Flying J SAC Baseball Championship from April 26-30.
The South Atlantic Conference and its member institutions will stream the action of the Men's and Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Baseball and Softball Championships.
The fall championship slate kicks off with Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship on October 21 at Southside Park in Newton, N.C.
The SAC Men's and Women's Soccer Championships will get underway on Oct. 31 with quarterfinal action at the highest seed. The semifinals and finals will move to Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. and will be played on November 3 and November 5.
The Volleyball Championship wraps up the fall slate of championships. Quarterfinals will be played on November 14 at the highest seed. The semifinals and finals will be contested November 17-18 at Holt Fieldhouse on the campus of Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, Tenn.
The South Atlantic Football Championship is based on regular-season finish.
The Inaugural South Atlantic Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships will get the winter championships going. The event will be held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. on February 19.
The Men's and Women's Basketball Championships is set for February 28 at the highest seed, while the semifinals and finals will return to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. on March 3-4. The 2018 Championship will mark the sixth-straight year the event has been held at Timmons Arena.
April will be a busy month for the South Atlantic Conference as all 10 of its spring sports championship will be played during the month.
The Men's Golf Championship will be played on April 8-10 with Anderson hosting the event at the Cobbs Glen Country Club in Anderson, S.C. Newberry will be the host of Women's Golf Championship on April 15-17 at the Members Club of Woodcreek in Columbia, S.C.
Quarterfinal action of the Women's Tennis Championship will get underway at the highest seed on April 17, while the Men's Quarterfinals will be played on April 18 at the highest seed. The Cayce Tennis Center in Cayce, S.C. will play host to the men's and women's semifinals and finals on April 20-21.
Lenoir-Rhyne will host the Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on April 20-21. The 2017 Championship will mark the fourth-straight year the Bears have hosted the event on campus in Hickory, N.C.
The South Atlantic Conference will play its Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships on April 24, 27 and 29. The highest seeds will host quarterfinal action on April 24. Wingate will host the semifinals and finals on Graham Gill Field in Wingate, N.C.
The SAC Softball Championship changed its format for the 2018 season as the event will now be an eight-team single elimination tournament. April 27 will kick off quarterfinal action with the semifinals and finals on April 28. Anderson will host the event at the Anderson Softball Complex in Anderson, S.C.
The Pilot/Flying J South Atlantic Conference Baseball Championship will return to Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn. for the third-straight year in 2018. The event gets going on April 26 and will conclude on April 30.
